Red Dress Sketch v. 1

This is the first sketch I did for the Red Contest. Based on this photo stock by Kirilee: Red 39, I was very much drawn to this pose at the start because of the direct interaction with the viewer. The idea I sketched was of a 19th century doll come to life.

I attempted to paint this, but the detail got beyond my control, so I then decided to go with a different pose and that was the one that ended up being the one I finished in time to submit for the contest!
